"Where else but MBS Productions could you find a loopy, gabby, tragicomic heroine with the panache of Lovely Uranus?... it’s impressive to see the depths and authenticity [Mark-Brian Sonna] achieves wearing Lovely’s outlandish, clever, nearly extraterrestrial ensembles. It verges on the comical, and yet, somehow, the combined effect is giddy, bittersweet and inexplicably moving. I believe drag is rarely used for the sake of gravitas (Torch Song Trilogy and Kiss of the Spiderwoman being notable exceptions) but here, this is exactly what happens, and it shouldn’t be missed." Christopher Soden, Examiner.com

It was not what I expected. I was thinking it was going to be a campy comedy, but it ended up being a very tangled love story...I would highly recommend it!" "Funny and yet sensitive portrayal of the HIV experience for many...an entertaining evening!"-Goldstar Members.

"Dylan Peck’s portrayal of Lovely’s partner, Casey, was quite good...Mark-Brian Sonna was absolutely fabulous. Lovely Uranus made a statement from the minute she walks in. She’s a 6 foot tall drag queen that commanded attention. How this man kept a straight face throughout this show was beyond me. I also have to give Mark some points for wearing 8 inch heels while in a skin tight dress. For a tall man that’s a feat in itself... I was impressed with Miss Armstrong’s performance [as Roberta]...Alejandro de la Costa’s script is well written.... this show has merit.... “Forever Lovely” is something that should be on your list of shows to see this summer." Scott W. Davis, The Column.

"If you loved To Wong Fu, you’re gonna love Forever Lovely. (We’re basing that solely on your assumed love of men and makeup and men in makeup.) In this little play that could, we follow “the most popular third-rate drag queen in Dallas,” Lovely Uranus, as she navigates the most important questions in life. Things like, do blue eyelashes suit my skin tone? Should I keep my day job? And finally, now that I’m seeing this one fella, what do I do when the love of my life ambles back into town? Holy penis tuck, right? That’s a serious freaking conundrum. Which is why Forever Lovely is a play that you should probably see. And with only three rows in the whole damn playhouse, you should probably buy tickets (mbsproductions.net), like, now." Allison Perkins, Dallas Observer.

Forever Lovely
by Alejandro de la Costa
July 18 – NOW EXTENDED THROUGH August 17, 2013!
Lovely Uranus, the most popular 3rd rate Drag Queen in Dallas has a few problems. The first: what color of fake eyelashes are the most flattering for her complexion? The second: should she give up her daytime gig at the Rainbow Retirement Home for gay men? And the third: What should she do when the love of her life re-enters her life now that she’s in a relationship? The answers to all these questions along with her unsolicited advice on living, loving, and lipstick will be answered as she remains “Forever Lovely.” World Premiere. No one under 18 admitted.
