...a moment in the life

"MBS Productions' DREAM CAFÉ by Alejandro de la Costa is a truly stunning and revolutionary experience for the audience... this is de la Costa's (and MBS Productions') finest work to date. If I could, I'd see Dream Café every night, every show."

Second review:
"IT WAS STUNNING. It drew gasps and tears from not only me but the entire audience. In addition to the genius that is the script, this particular night, there wasn't a single missed beat by the actors... It wasn't until it was over and I was contemplating (and comparing notes) in my car did I truly begin to understand the different story I had experienced. Only then was I beginning to truly grasp all the stories within this script and the power of each and every one of them."-

"terrific performances.... a thought-provoking night of theatre.... I am tempted to return to the Stone Cottage Theatre to see Dream Café in a different sequence of scenes...The acting is sensational. Mark-Brian Sonna as Bryan hits all the right notes...Ivan Jones as Kent the waiter is a scream...In his first outing as an actor, Kyle Roark (Tony) proves that he is more than just eye-candy. Jana Edele brings both her comedic and her theatric skills to the floor as Lila...her powerful role...packs an emotional punch. No one makes more of an impact than Micah John Collin as Sven. Charming and flirtatious...his slow emotional meltdown...is wrenching....Dream Café is an experimental theatrical experience that I highly recommend. I’m not sure what story will unfold on your visit, but you will leave with a distinctive, pleasurable taste in your mouth.

"Alejandro de la Costa has turned real life into six vignettes about sex and love — anecdotal, quirky tales of one-night stands, online love and even a dramatic break-up....and came up with a wonderfully poignant script...Director Charles Ballinger directed this with a precision that gives the actors room to create worthwhile characters while knowing that one day they could be the hero and next, the heel. The actors execute each night differently with no time to convene beforehand, but Ballinger’s taken de la Costa’s play and turned the scenes into gems...Dream Café is a worthy stop — multiple stops, actually."
Rich Lopez, Dallas Voice

"Come see the provocative comedy that has audiences laughing and thinking...Justin Knox said of the show, 'It's such a unique concept. Every performance is an experiment in happenstance. It's like a choose your own adventure book but obviously more insightful and real.'"

Dream Café
a dreamy and sexy comedy by Alejandro de la Costa
World Premiere

May 27 – June 27, 2010

Brian is a single man trying to find his perfect mate.  He keeps running up against obstacles preventing him from falling in love.  The problem?  Men.

Various scenes are presented in this man’s life.  What makes the play unique is that each night the same five scenes will be presented in random order as picked by the audience.  The result is a different play nightly depending on the order of the scenes.
This is a play that you will want to definitely attend more than once to see how the story changes with each performance.
