"Dream Café is an experimental work done right.
The Theater was the perfect spot to present [the play] as it allowed up close and a personal feel. The actors conveyed exceptional depth to the characters that drew the audience in. Mark-Brian Sonna showed an amazing range, from joy and passion to despair that had me wanting to applaud, laugh and at times give him a reassuring hug.
The uniqueness of the script allows for 720 different experiences, you may want to see it more them once. Be warned there is graphic nudity and it is an adult themed production. I enjoyed it the night of, pondered it more over the next two days and realized I had witnessed a lot more depth to the story. The writing is solid and brought a new outlook on trials of love and passions on a group I had never given much thought too. I would be remiss if I failed to mention the entire cast as each and every one of them brought a new mix to the picture. Gerald Taylor II brought a wise cracking humor to not only to his character but the transitional black outs between acts. Aaron Jakaboski portrayed a care free young man coming to terms with his sexuality and life choices he was in the middle of. Laura Lester was the animated female friend who had problems of her own, yet was so loving of her friend she kept them suppressed till the climax. Andrew Friedrich played the sophisticated love interest of the lead and gave a stunning emotional final act. (In the version I watched). The cast worked so hard on presenting their characters that I felt like I was truly sitting in the Dream Café watching the comedy , drama and tears unfold. Well done and highly recommended. I had the pleasure of seeing it opening week and have already made plans to see it again later in its run, I hope to see you there to share this."
