Due to the popularity of Dream Café
the show is now extended through June 27!

Great show and innovative approach to delivery of the play! Allowing the audience to choose the delivery each night ensures a unique experience and outcome as well. Cast was exceptional in its delivery and the venue was perfect setting for this play too.
Dan S. - Goldstar Member Review.

"Dream Café is an experimental work done right.
The Theater was the perfect spot to present [the play] as it allowed up close and a personal feel. The actors conveyed exceptional depth to the characters that drew the audience in. Mark-Brian Sonna showed an amazing range, from joy and passion to despair that had me wanting to applaud, laugh and at times give him a reassuring hug.
The uniqueness of the script allows for 720 different experiences, you may want to see it more them once. Be warned there is graphic nudity and it is an adult themed production. I enjoyed it the night of, pondered it more over the next two days and realized I had witnessed a lot more depth to the story. The writing is solid and brought a new outlook on trials of love and passions on a group I had never given much thought too. I would be remiss if I failed to mention the entire cast as each and every one of them brought a new mix to the picture. Gerald Taylor II brought a wise cracking humor to not only to his character but the transitional black outs between acts. Aaron Jakaboski portrayed a care free young man coming to terms with his sexuality and life choices he was in the middle of. Laura Lester was the animated female friend who had problems of her own, yet was so loving of her friend she kept them suppressed till the climax. Andrew Friedrich played the sophisticated love interest of the lead and gave a stunning emotional final act. (In the version I watched). The cast worked so hard on presenting their characters that I felt like I was truly sitting in the Dream Café watching the comedy , drama and tears unfold. Well done and highly recommended. I had the pleasure of seeing it opening week and have already made plans to see it again later in its run, I hope to see you there to share this."

"A Successful Re-Invention of Dream Café.
Originally performed in 2010 and written by Alejandro de la Costa, MBS Productions brings back Dream Café to the Stone Cottage Theatre in Addison Texas. Highlights from the May 30th performance include Mark-Brian Sonna’s endearing portrayal of lead character Bryan, the boyish over-eager charm of Aaron Jakoboski as Tony, and the unexpected order of the show.
As the audience settles in to the intimate space of the Stone Cottage theatre, we realize we are about to see a play that hasn’t been performed before when Bryan asks for an audience volunteer to determine the order of the scenes...In Sonna’s short opening soliloquy, we are challenged to determine if the order of the scenes changes the outcome of how the main character identifies himself...Would our perspective of who he is be different if the scenes had played out in an alternate order? From this critic’s point of view, no. Bryan would have made the same or similar choices. Although, the quality of the show warrants a second viewing to test the theory. "
Shelley Padilla, Associate Critic for John Garcia's THE COLUMN

"MBS Productions' DREAM CAFÉ by Alejandro de la Costa is a truly stunning and revolutionary experience for the audience... this is de la Costa's (and MBS Productions') finest work to date. If I could, I'd see Dream Café every night, every show."

    Second review:
"IT WAS STUNNING. It drew gasps and tears from not only me but the entire audience. In addition to the genius that is the script, this particular night, there wasn't a single missed beat by the actors... It wasn't until it was over and I was contemplating (and comparing notes) in my car did I truly begin to understand the different story I had experienced. Only then was I beginning to truly grasp all the stories within this script and the power of each and every one of them."-

"a thought-provoking night of theatre.... I am tempted to return to the Stone Cottage Theatre to see Dream Café in a different sequence of scenes...The acting is sensational. Mark-Brian Sonna as Bryan hits all the right notes...Dream Café is an experimental theatrical experience that I highly recommend. I’m not sure what story will unfold on your visit, but you will leave with a distinctive, pleasurable taste in your mouth.
    Doug Dodasovich - EdgeDallas.com

"Alejandro de la Costa has turned real life into six vignettes about sex and love — anecdotal, quirky tales of one-night stands, online love and even a dramatic break-up....and came up with a wonderfully poignant script...Director Charles Ballinger directed this with a precision that gives the actors room to create worthwhile characters while knowing that one day they could be the hero and next, the heel. The actors execute each night differently with no time to convene beforehand, but Ballinger’s taken de la Costa’s play and turned the scenes into gems...Dream Café is a worthy stop — multiple stops, actually."
    Rich Lopez, Dallas Voice

"It's such a unique concept. Every performance is an experiment in happenstance. It's like a choose your own adventure book but obviously more insightful and real."

    May 28 - June 27, 2015

Lauded as the best play of 2010 by numerous critics, it gives us much pleasure to bring back this gound breaking play for a limited run.

Bryan is a single man trying to find his perfect mate.  He keeps running up against obstacles preventing him from falling in love. The problem?  Men.

Six scenes of his life are presented. What makes the play unique is that each night the same six scenes will be presented in random order as picked by the audience. The result is an almost guaranteed different play nightly because there are 720 possible combinations.

This play is intended for mature audiences due to language, adult situations, and nudity. No one under 18 will be admitted.
