Dante: Purgatorio
By Alejandro de la Costa
Translated by Mark-Brian Sonna
Original music by Mark-Brian Sonna
October 16 – November 8, 2014
After escaping from Hell in his search of his beloved Beatrice, Dante finds himself at the foot of a great mountain which reaches into the heavens. In order to survive his journey he must confront sinners who committed the seven deadly sins. Most are desperate to leave the suffering from purgatory and ask for Dante's assistance, while others believe he shouldn’t be there and will do anything to prevent him from reuniting with his beloved. Will Dante escape? Or will he be condemned and sent back to hell for the sins for which he hasn’t repented?
The play is a direct adaptation of Dante Alighieri's seminal work. It incorporates chants and songs from the period as well as new compositions that reflect the music of the era. Due to the intense subject matter we do not recommend children under 13 attend. World Premiere.

"One of the top 5 Halloween shows"
Nancy Churning, Dallas Morning News,
"The staging, a MBS trademark, was sparse with many interchangeable props and the lighting/sound effects was without fault. Musical compositions by Sonna gave an air of authencity to the story. Add to that the company's usual mix of actors who are never afraid to push every button available to pull you into their clutches to tell their story and you still have a great production."
