Winner of the National Goldstar Nutcracker Award aka "The Nutty."
Are you tired of the typical Holiday shows? Come check ours out! The women of the Beulaville Baptist Book Club are in dire straits financially, and as a last ditch attempt to save their book club they decide to do a fundraiser and hire the Beaumont Ballet to perform Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker”. Madge’s Piña Colada Casserole unfortunately sickens the entire cast with food poisoning and they are unable to perform. Luckily, there is another dance troop in town. It seems the Velvet Kittens Burlesque Dancers are stuck in Beulaville because their van broke down on their way to New Orleans. Madge has never heard of Burlesque, or as she pronounces it “Bur-less-Q”, and in an act of necessity hires the dance troupe to do “The Nutcracker”. The end result? The most original, unusual, and comical Nutcracker you have ever seen!

Due to the Covid-19 Omicron variant and the anticipated sharp rise in cases in DFW
SLAVE LETTERS is cancelled.
We will reschedule it for a future date to be determined.
|
February 17 – 27, 2022, at the Studio Theatre
During the slave era of the United States most slaves were illiterate, but some secretly learned how to read and write. Some of these letters have survived and chronicle the daily life of slavery. While many detail the terrible conditions of slavery, others express intense humanity. These letters of love, longing, hope, and the quest for freedom are at times uplifting, horrifying, and even humorous, giving a voice to those who were oppressed. The reading of these letters is interspersed with Negro Spirituals and Slave Songs from the era. This ground breaking production was the first in its kind for it gives a voice to the millions who were subjugated and mostly forgotten.

The original war of the sexes. We all know the story of Adam and Eve, the apple and the snake. What if the snake were a person, and not just any person, but a hunk of a man with no morals whose main purpose is to seduce either Adam or Eve? This religiously incorrect retelling of what happened in the Garden of Eden is outrageous, scandalous, and oh so sexy. For mature audiences only due to sexual situations, general misbehaviour, and nudity. No one under 18 will be admitted!!!
